Mount Dora

Mount Dora is more than a hundred years old, but colorful festivals and a vibrant downtown give it a youthful, carefree vibe. The city’s hip restaurants, live music, and an array of outdoor activities will knock a few years off your age.

It’s also a stunner – stately Victorian homes and live oaks draped with Spanish moss greet you the moment you set foot here. The shopping district with its cobblestone streets exudes old world charm, while the glimmering lakes that surround the city truly make it “Someplace Special.”

Mount Dora is a 40-minute drive from downtown Orlando, and is almost exactly in the center of Florida. Over 13,000 full-time residents call it home.

Real estate

There’s a mix of older homes and new construction homes in Mount Dora. The city has set guidelines to help preserve the Victorian and Craftsman-style homes that can be found in historic neighborhoods, while newly built homes are in abundant supply.

The housing stock consists mostly of single-family homes, mobile homes, townhomes, and condos. Vacant waterfront lots are also available.

Waterfront homes command stunning views of Horseshoe and Gertrude Lake, and are highly coveted. These homes usually have private docks, balconies, and screened porches ideal for entertaining.

Luxury homes can have as many as 5 bedrooms, along with outdoor pools and summer kitchens. Lofty ceilings, marble floors, granite countertops, and walk-in pantries are common features.

There are a number of 55+ communities with an excellent selection of single-level homes and exclusive amenities.
